GARDEN DESIGN FOR TOWNHOUSE IN HAMPSTEAD,  U.K.

We worked with much of the existing plant material and revised the space. A couple with two daughters, (ages 9 and 6) had just purchased a flat in Hampstead. They were looking to create a meadow-like quality yet also were partial to the formality of classic gardens.  Todd Haiman Landscape Design revised the space using the classic “Chahar-Bagh” design (a paradigm for garden design in Islamic Spain and Mughal India).  A simple mowed pathway creates quadrants of tall grasses interspersed with Queen-Anne’s lace. Existing mature hawthorn trees were supplemented with younger specimens.  Cerulean blue painted benches were placed at the terminus of the linked paths and roses were proposed for the corners in this garden design.
